AFTERCARE
Getting the most out of your henna design
How to get the best stain-
-
LEAVE THE PASTE ON AS LONG AS POSSIBLE- This is very important! Henna needs time to work its magic, and most people take 3-4 hours to get a good stain.
-
If you remove the paste before it has had time to stain your skin properly, you will only get a light design that won’t last!
-
KEEP YOUR DESIGN WARM- this helps darken the stain. Wrapping the design in cotton or tissue covered by plastic wrap is a great way to keep it warm and protected.
-
KEEP IT DRY! A henna design that’s kept dry for the first 24 hours will get about twice as dark and last much longer!
How to make your design last
+ Keep your design dry for the first 24 hours– IT WILL GET TWICE AS DARK!
+ Apply cocoa butter, oil, or waterproof sunscreen before showering
+ Applying cocoa butter or lotion daily will protect your design and help it last longer
+ The less a design is touched, the longer it will last
+ Enjoy your beautiful henna design!
THINGS THAT WILL FADE YOUR HENNA
+ Getting it wet within the first 24 hours!
+ Clothing that rubs on your design
+ Frequent washing
+ Cleaning chemicals
+ Contact lens cleaning solution
+ The chlorine in pool water (but you can protect your design for a BRIEF swim by applying a coating of Vaseline petroleum jelly or waterproof sunscreen before swimming)
+ Exfoliating
+ Rubbing
+ Scrubbing
+ Scratching
+ Time- Most designs last from a week to a month. They will gradually fade as the stained skin cells wear away, but taking good care of your design will help you get the most out of it.
